Top 5 Spanish Cosmopolitan Cities: Madrid, Barcelona and which else?
Hi everyone! Hope everything's going great. I'm coming today with a post about the top 5 Spanish Multicultural cities. Let's start!!
As you can see in the map, there are loads of cities which are worth visiting in Spain. However, when we talk about big, Cosmoplitan cities the list is reduced considerably. From my point of view, the top 5 Spanish Cosmopolitan cities (which I've all visited) are:
1- MADRID
Spanish capital city, with over 3 million inhabitants just the city and around 4,6 million with the metropolitan área, Madrid is undoubtedly the most Cosmopolitan city of the country and one of the most modern and multicultural cities around the world
I've been to Madrid several times and I'm not tired of going through its streets, seeing its diversity, going shopping and visiting some of its museums and landmarks. If I were to choose one monument of this magnificient city, it would be the Royal Palace, which my family and I had the chance to visit in 2012.
During that visit to Madrid, I also had the chance to meet Juan Carlos I, the previous King of Spain as a result of winning a contest called: "What does the King mean to you?" It was one of the most memorable moments of my life
Here I share a video of some plans and activities to do in Madrid. Enjoy it!
2- BARCELONA
The city in which Gaudi developed his skills to the extent possible and thanks to which he became a well-known architect worldwide. Owing to the fact some of my relatives live in Barcelona, I've already visited the city several times and I don't get tired of it. It's such a lively and striking city! I love the feeling of walking along the "Ramblas" and listening various languages, neither of which is Spanish.
Park Güell is a public park designed by Gaudi from where visitors can enjoy some of the most breathtaking and impressive views of Barcelona.
Moreover, the Sagrada Familia, is an enormous and grandious church which must be seen both from its outside and inside. Its outstanding design and stained glass should be contemplated even by not religious people.
3- MÁLAGA
With over 500,000 inhabitants, Málaga is the second most populated city of Andalucía, after Seville. Its warm weather, landmarks, friendly people and shore turn it into the preferred destination of thousands and thousands of Europeans. Even though lots of them are just tourists, a great quantity of them end up living in this spectacular city, which becomes then multicultural and diverse.
4- SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
Despite being the Spanish city in which it rains more often, Santiago de Compostela is one of the most visited ones, especially by foreigners. Santiago is the destination to which pilgrims who decide to go on the Road to Santiago arrive, giving thanks to Saint Santiago in the Cathedral. The famous Obradoiro square, in the second picture, is in front of the Cathedral and is full of pilgrims all year round.
If you want more information about the Road to Santiago, you can visit either this page or this other one.
5- SALAMANCA
Famous for its huge and spacious mayor square, Salamanca also occupies an outstanding place because of its ancient and high quality university. Over 26,000 students from over 80 different nationalities fill the city with happiness, diversity and tolerance.
That's all for today's post. Spanish cities are done, so I'll soon start with cities around the world. Can't wait for it! If you have any question to ask me or any suggestion in order to improve the blog, don't hesitate to let me a comment. Bye!
This cities are a good election, however my favourites are Madrid and Santiago de Compostela!
