10- TOKYO

Hi everyone! Today's city, Tokyo, is not only the most populated city all over the world, but also one with the latest technologies. Let's start!

1- General information
Tokyo is located on the Pacific Ocean, on the east coast of Honshu, the largest of the four main islands Japan comprises.
The population of the city of Tokyo is about 8.5 million people (12.5 including the metropolitan area). However, when talking about Tokyo, we usually refer to "Greater Tokyo" , which counts with nothing less than  38 million inhabitants, which makes it the most populous metropolitan area all over the world. It also has the most crowded train lines all over the world, the most busy road and the highest GDP (Gross Domestic Product), which is higher tan New York City's or Los Angeles'

2- Landmarks
Tokyo Tower was built in 1958 and modeled after the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but it's both taller and lighter. It's one of the most tourists monuments of the city because of the two platforms from which you can get the most breathtaking views of the city.

Hanazono Jinja is a shrine located in the heart of Tokyo which attracts hundreds of people who are looking for some fresh air and relax time at a quiet place in the city centre.

Ueno Park is also one of the favourites places for visitors. When it's time of blossom, the image of the park is simply outstanding. Moreover, this park counts with nothing less than 6 museums.

3- People
Besides the regular residents of the city, thousands of people from nearby prefectures commute to Tokyo everybody to either study or work. Nevertheless, it is quite surprising that the 98% of Tokyo's residents are Japanese, being the 2% left made up primarily of Korean, Chinese, Philippine, British, American, Brazilian and Peruvian city
Tokyoites (that's how people from Tokyo are called) are generally polite and nice people, but they might seem distant because they're quite introvert and don't open themselves to others easily. Despite so, most of them speak English and are willing to help foreigners in all they can.

4- Food
Tokyo is one of the most exciting dining destinations, featuring both local and regional Japanese cuisine.
One of the most popular dishes in Tokyo nowadays is nigri-sushi. It's what most of us will just call sushi, but it differs from it in the time of preparation. Whereas traditional sushi might take 4 hours of preparation, nigri sushi will be done in one.

Moreover, if you wanna try something more typical of the city, you should definitely look for Ningyo Yaki. Thsese are traditional biscuits made in the shape of the seven gods of luck.

5- Films and TV Series
Japanese Tv series aren't usually known in Europe. However, cartoons are. Thus, the most characteristical cartoons set in Tokyo are Power Rangers.

As manga is Japanese, there might be several of those stories set in Tokyo. Imawa no kuni no Alice is the one I found, but I'm not a manga lover so I have no idea at all whether it's famous or popular or not (if you have any idea, plese write a comment).

With reference to films, there are several American films set in Tokyo which are worldwide famous.  Some of them are Godzilla, Lost in Transalation, and a newer one, The Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift.
