13- VENICE
1- General information
Worlwide known as "The City of Canals", Venice is located in the North East of Italy. It lies on over 100 islands in a lagoon in the Adratic Sea. What most of the people don't know (I didn't either) is the fact that only one out of five Venice's inhabitants (around 55,000 people) live in the historical centre of the city. The rest of the population, about 220,000 people, live on the mainland. Even though Venice is famous for its gondolas, the truth is those historical boats are only a means of transport among tourists. Residents use motorboats or even waterbuses .
2- Landmarks
Venice is such a charming city which is worth walking along calmly, even getting lost and getting found again.
One of its most famous landmarks is definitely the Rialto Bridge, one of the bridges which cross through the Grand Canal and the oldest one. The views from there are definitely impressive.
Piazza San Marco is another place which can't be forgotten when visiting Venice. Just in this square you will get the chance to visit Basilica di San Marco, Dodge's Palace and Torre del Orogollio, so you'll kill three birds with one stone!

3- People
Venice is such an important tourist destination it receives an average 50,000 tourists a day. It means one out of every two people in Venice are tourists. It makes Venecians friendly people and open to different cultures, turning Venice into a Cosmopolitan and multicultural city
4- Food
You can taste the typical Italian dishes as pizza and pasta, as well as delicious ice creams in Venice.
Even so, Venice has its own traditional dishes. The ones which have stunned me the most are the following:
- ”Ruta delle ombre e dei cicchetti“. Those are the equivalent to the Spanish "tapas". They are various and are served on the traditional bars.
- Fritole is a traditional dessert from Venice which seems really tasty. Check it yourself!
5- Films and TV Series
Casino Royale is one of the most famous films which was recorded in Venice.
