15- SYDNEY

Hy everyone!
I'm gonna start writing a little bit about every single city of the Top 15 Cosmopolitan Cities Around the World. It's gonna be useful for me too to gain a little bit of insight into those various cities
It's Sydney's turn today so, let's start!

1- General information

With a population of about 5 million people including its metropolitan area, Sydney is the most populated city of Australia and Oceania.
Despite being one of the most expensive cities in the world, Sydney occupies the tenth position in the world in terms of quality of living, according to several surveys, .
Even though the Sydney Area was discovered by the first British settlers at the end of the 18th century, it's important to remember it has been inhabited by indigenous Australians for at least 30,000 years. These days, there are still 500,000 members belonging to around 400 different aboriginal communities which are worthy on the part of its compatriots.

2- Landmarks
Sydney is worldwide famous for having hosted the 2000 Olympics, but it has got lots of exciting and funny attractions to offer to its visitors. Some of the most outstanding ones are Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Taronga Zoo, Sea Life Sydney AquariumRoyal National Park and Royal Botanic Garden

3- People
One of three Sydney's inhabitants was born overseas.  That doesn't only mean that about one-third of residents speak a language different from English at home, but also that a lot of different nationalities' people live together harmoniously and more than 250 different languages are spoken daily in the city. Consequently, Sydney is one of the most multicultural cities over the world and one of the preferred destinies of international students.

4- Food
Owing to the wide diversity of people living in Sydney, almost any food can be found, but there are some traditional foods which visitors should look for.
One of them is damper, which seems like a normal bread, but it isn't. Why? It's made without yeast! I'd like to try it so as to compare it with the Spanish bread.

Meat pies are other traditional Australian meal. Filled with steak or kidney, and sometimes with onion or mashed potatoes, meat pies are usually served with a nice gravy.

In the afternoon, lamingtons are often served with a cup of tea. These are pieces of sponge cake rolled in coconut and topped with whipped cream. They don't look bad at all either!

5- Films and TV Series
I don't know of any Tv series which has been filmed in Sydney (if anybody knows please let it in the comments). Nevertheless, there are several film directors who have  chosen the city as the location of their movies.
Matrix
Even though Matrix is the most known film recorded in Sydney, there are others such as Moulin Rouge, Independence Day, The Great Gatsby and The Day the Earth Stood Still
