9- ROME

Hi everyone! I'm on writing mood today, so apart from Tokyo I've written this post about Rome, one of the most beautiful and amazing cities all over the world (which I haven't visited yet but I hope I'll do soon). Let's start then!

1- General information

Rome, the capital, largest and most populous city of Italy, is located in the central-western part of the Italian Peninsula.
The population of the Italian capital city is around 2.7 million people, 4.3 million including the metropolitan area.

One of the most surprising things about the city is the fact that it holds an independent country, the Vatican City within the city boundaries. That's why Rome has been often defined as "capital of two states".
Rome was founded more tan 2,000 years ago, so it has a very long and rich history. Thus,it has been called several names, from the Sacred City or the Capital of the World to the City of the Seven Hills, because it was built on them.

2- Landmarks
Rome's full of monuments and masterpieces which are worth visitng. Some of the most impressive ones are the following:

The Colosseum, which is probably, the most famous landmark of the city, is the greatest amphiteatre of the Roman Empire and still the main landmark of the Eternal City of 2,000 years ago.

The Fontana di Trevi (Trevi Fountain in English) is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and the most famous all over the world. Almost every visitor to the city goes to this fountain and flips a coin while making a wish. But, do you really know the history and the secrets hidden of this city? If your answer is no, then you MUST visit this page. Come on!

St Peter's Square is a huge square located in the Vatican City bordering St Peter's Vasilica. Locally known as Piazza San Pietro, this majestic structure was built in the 17th century by Bernini.

The Sistine Chapel is the most famous chapel of the Vatican City, which is famous for Miguel Ángel's drawings of the Final Judgement. Lots of people think its entry is banned, but it isn't. When visiting The Vatican Museums (which aren't cheap but seem to be worth it), you can also visit this amazing place.

3- People
Since Ancient Times, being a Roman citizen has been a source of pride,  and there's still some prestige in being an autentic Roman nowadays. Romans, like all Italians are friendly and easygoing people. Nevertheless, there is, like everywhere I suppose, a group of people who are quite rude towards tourists, but that's not the usual.

4- Food
The whole Italy is famous for its culinary delights, like pizza, pasta and ice creams.

Nevertheless, there are some dishes which can't be found anywhere else in the country. One of them is Pizza Bianca ("White Pizza") which can be found in all bakeries in Rome. Moreover, pizzas in Rome aren't the same as others like the ones from Napples. The ones from the capital are really, really thin.
